Maid Fears Deportation After Sex Agreement with Wealthy Antiguan Couple

You can now listen to Antigua News articles!

Dear Editor

I have been employed by a somewhat wealthy family in Antigua and Barbuda as a maid. They are not rich rich but they have some kind of money

I am originally from Guyana, and I have found myself in an embarrassing situation.

I have been living with this couple for over 3 years, and despite the couple treating me fairly, a few months ago, the wife requested that I engage in intercourse with her husband due to her health issues and fatigue.

I thought about it before agreeing, and I said yes only after negotiating a pay raise, as I require the additional income to support my family.

What she told me was that this arrangement would be occasional and based on his needs. She never told me it would be every other night. She also told me it would be better like this since she didn’t want him to become frustrated and go outside and look for a woman.

She said she is concerned about STDs

I have been doing as she said and they have stuck to the agreement. It isn’t easy with that man. He smokes and always smells like rum. But an agreement is an agreement. So I endure.

However, the wife’s behavior towards me has since turned cold, and my passport disappeared. I am not accusing her, but it is very suspicious.

She told me she no longer wanted my services in her husband’s room. I didn’t ask why. I just said ok. Besides it was horrible having to do that.

But now, I am worried that I could be deported, so I didn’t go to the authorities. These people have a big name in Antigua.

When this letter comes out, I know they will treat me worse, but I feel compelled to shed light on the injustices faced by vulnerable foreign women in Antigua and Barbuda.
