Sergio Martinez, the newly appointed Cuban Ambassador to Antigua and Barbuda, recently paid a courtesy visit to E.P Chet Greene, the Foreign Affairs Minister of Antigua and Barbuda.

During the meeting, both officials discussed the upcoming 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries which were established on April 6, 1994, under the (Sir) Lester Bird Administration.

The discussion mainly focused on ways to commemorate the milestone and to further strengthen the ties between the two Caribbean nations.

The officials exchanged ideas and thoughts on various initiatives that could be undertaken to mark the occasion. Antigua and Barbuda reaffirmed its unwavering support for Cuba, especially in light of the ongoing economic and financial blockade imposed by the United States for more than six decades.

The Antigua and Barbuda parliament is expected to convene a meeting to adopt a resolution that affirms its support for Cuba in this ongoing struggle. It is anticipated that the opposition party, UPP, will join hands with the government in supporting this resolution.
