Come sun or rain, Carnival 2024 will proceed as planned, assures Minister of Creative Industries Daryll Matthew.
Responding to concerns regarding projected summer weather patterns, Matthew reaffirmed the steadfastness of Carnival’s schedule.
Despite forecasts from the Caribbean Climate Outlook Forum (CariCOF) indicating near-record heat levels extending until October, with peaks in August and September, Matthew remains resolute.
“The date for Carnival won’t be shifted. I believe I can say that definitely,” he affirmed. However, he noted that specific discussions regarding heat had not yet taken place.
He stated that mechanisms will be put in place to keep people hydrated.
Carnival is scheduled to take place from July 25 to August 6.
But acknowledging concerns about the upcoming hurricane season, which meteorological experts predict to be “extremely active” for the Atlantic in 2024, Matthew expressed concern.
Nevertheless, preparations for Carnival are in full swing, with plans described as “significantly advanced,” he shared.
Carnival 2024 will be launched on April 25 in the form of a media launch and sponsorship cocktail event at the Hodges Bay Club.
