On Monday, May 27th, all public and private schools will operate remotely to prepare for the Small Island Developing States Conference (SIDS4), one of the biggest conferences ever held in the country.

This closure according to Director of Clare Browne in a communique to schools; is necessary to facilitate the transportation of delegates to the event venue.

In the letter, Browne informed all schools that they would operate remotely that day.

According to Browne, the school buses will not be available on the day, and this, coupled with the anticipated heavy traffic congestion, makes it imperative for schools to resort to remote learning.

Schools will revert to COVID-19-style learning; online using Google classrooms

The letter states that in addition, the National School Bus system will not be able to provide transportation for field trips and tours from May 21st to June 5th.
