Mr. Paul Salmon, the owner and managing director of Sentinel Operations, a provider of specialized security services to international clients, has made a significant contribution to Antigua and Barbuda’s production capacity.

The donation includes a Hans group automatic line series high-speed flat mask manufacturing machine, an ultraviolet sterilization chamber and safety box, an industrial compressor, and fabric rolls for surgical mask production, generously given to the Government of Antigua and Barbuda.

The handover ceremony was graced by the presence of E.P Chet Greene, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Agriculture, Trade and Barbuda Affairs, alongside officials from the Ministry of Trade. Mr. Paul Salmon and High Commissioner Karen-Mae Hill attended virtually from the United Kingdom.

Minister Greene expressed his appreciation for the donation, emphasizing its importance in enhancing the nation’s self-sufficiency in producing high-quality medical supplies.

He stated, “This donation from Mr. Salmon represents a partnership, a shared vision, and a step forward in our nation’s productive capacity.

I am certain that my colleagues in the healthcare sector will appreciate the value of this machine to our efforts to fight against infectious diseases. I extend thanks to Mr. Salmon for this valuable contribution.”

In response, Mr. Salmon conveyed his delight in being able to source the medical equipment and expressed his gratitude to the Government of Antigua and Barbuda, as well as its team in London, for their assistance with the administrative practicalities around the delivery of the equipment.

The machine’s ability to produce masks on a large scale has the potential to benefit not only healthcare workers locally but also the wider OECS.

The increased availability of masks will also support the Government’s efforts to ensure that every citizen has access to essential protective gear.

The Government of Antigua and Barbuda has assured that a team of experts will oversee the installation and operation of the mask-making machine to ensure maximum efficiency and output.

Furthermore, training programs will be conducted to equip local technicians with the skills necessary to operate and maintain the machine effectively.

In conclusion, the Government of Antigua and Barbuda extends its deepest gratitude to Mr. Salmon for his remarkable contribution and reaffirms its dedication to strengthening the nation’s healthcare infrastructure.

This partnership stands as a testament to the power of collective action and the enduring spirit of global solidarity.

  1. We are happy about the timely donation of the machine to save money from outsourcing surgical or hospital masks.
Since the government does not perform regular preventative and corrective maintenance on anything, including infrastructure, equipment, and machines, let us now see how long this machine will last. By the way, does the government have the main spare parts of this machine on hand for emergency maintenance repairs? The manual for this machine states which spare parts should always be on hand.
