A woman found with cocaine and cannabis at V.C Bird International Airport has been fined a total of $25,000.
On May 30, officers from the Narcotics Department, while on duty at the airport, encountered 30-year-old Taji Tricia Bright of St. George Street in the departure lounge.
Upon searching her, they discovered 1 1⁄4 pounds of cannabis strapped to her breast and 42.5 grams of cocaine inside her vagina.
The estimated value of the cocaine is $1,487.50, and the cannabis is valued at $3,500.
Bright was taken into custody and subsequently charged with possession of cannabis and cocaine, drug trafficking, possession of both drugs with intent to transfer, and possession with intent to supply.
She appeared in court today, where she admitted to possessing both drugs and intending to supply them.
She was reprimanded for possession but was fined for the more serious charge-$10,000 for the cannabis and $15,000 for the cocaine.
The police were tip off of her carrying the drugs.
