Nation celebrates the achievements of outstanding students

It was a night to remember when the ACB Caribbean National CSEC Awards were presented.

The ceremony, held at the SJPC House of Restoration, was an absolute spectacle under the theme’ a masquerade of excellence’.

The event was graced by esteemed officials, including Minister Daryl Matthew and Director of Education Clare Browne. Representatives from ACB Caribbean, the corporate sponsor, were also in attendance. The evening was a beautiful celebration of the outstanding accomplishments of students within the secondary school system.

As the night unfolded, it also became a heartwarming farewell to the students who are moving on to the next chapter in their lives, whether it’s at the Antigua State College or other institutions of higher learning.

Minister Matthew’s congratulatory remarks were truly inspiring, emphasizing the students’ hard work, perseverance, and growth. He challenged them with a thought-provoking question: ‘What will your contribution to humanity be?’ His words were a powerful call to action, encouraging the students to make their mark on the world in their own unique ways.

The event also featured words of wisdom from Yetlee Thomas, Manager of the Village Walk Branch of ACB Caribbean. He shared his personal experiences and encouraged the students to pursue their passions in life, reminding them that their time in secondary school has laid a strong foundation for their future.

What an incredible night it was, filled with inspiration, encouragement, and the celebration of excellence!

The recipient of this year’s Top Student of the Year Award is D’Aundre Samuel from St. Joseph’s Academy. D’Aundre achieved an impressive 23 subject passes, out of which 21 were Grade Ones.

Following closely is another diligent student from SJA, Adrian Judnarine, who secured the second place with 26 subject passes, including 19 Grade Ones.

In a remarkable display of academic excellence, the third place was jointly captured by Stephanie Archibald and Tianna Bretney from the Baptist Academy of Antigua. Both Stephanie and Tianna attained twenty subject passes with 18 Grade Ones, showcasing their outstanding achievements.

The student recipients were honored with awards in four distinct categories – platinum, gold, silver, and bronze – based on the number of passes and Grade Ones they achieved.

Parents, family and freinds were also there to celebrate with the awardees. Samuel’s parents for sure showed up.

Furthermore, the Regional Merit List award was presented to seven exceptional students for placing in the top ten regionally in their respective subject areas. These deserving students include Stephanie Archibald from Baptist Academy (Integrated Science), Azariah Thomas from Seventh-Day Adventist School (Office Administration), Caysy Rolland from St. Anthony’s Secondary (Office Administration), Adrian Judnarine from SJA (Office Administration), Brenair Humphreys from SJA (Visual Arts), Meegan Smith from AGHS (Clothing and Textiles), and Adrian Judnarine from SJA (Industrial Technology Mechanical).
