Some Caribbean Islands to be Affected by Saharan Dust Haze

24 June 2024 - 07:56

Some islands in the Caribbean are experiencing a slight dust haze in the atmosphere, with the expectation that it will intensify by Monday.

The St Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Services’ 72-hour weather outlook has warned of varying concentrations of Saharan dust, leading to haziness across the region with reduced visibility at times. Similarly, the Dominica Meteorological Office has forecasted a significant increase in Saharan dust concentration on Monday, which may adversely affect air quality and visibility, especially for individuals with respiratory sensitivities.

In Sint Maarten, the Meteorological Department has also advised that varying concentrations of Saharan dust will impact the local region, urging people with allergies or respiratory illnesses to take necessary precautions.
