Burglars caught in the act

In recent news, authorities in Antigua and Barbuda are urging the public to help dismantle a suspected crime ring.

This group is allegedly focusing on pilfering from under-construction buildings, taking plumbing, electrical components, windows, doors, and other construction materials.

The police have announced that they are actively pursuing the individuals responsible for a weekend break-in at homes in Donovan’s Estate.

“Sometime between last Friday and the early hours of Sunday morning, thieves broke into three separate houses under construction and stole several items, including doors, plumbing and electrical fittings, electrical wires, electrical and garden tools, cement, and other items that were stored on these properties. They also stole the security cameras that were installed on two of the properties.

“Similarly, a house on Parham Main Road was broken around the same time. The perpetrators reportedly stole several gallons of paint, a television, and a stove, along with several bags of cement,” the release stated.

The police department is kindly asking for the assistance of anyone who may have witnessed any individuals or vehicles behaving suspiciously in the vicinity.

Please reach out to the Parham Police Station at 463-2060. Alternatively, you can provide information anonymously by calling the Crimestoppers hotline at 800-TIPS (8477).

Additionally, the police urge contractors and individuals involved in construction to exercise increased caution.

It is advised to either reduce the amount of building materials left unattended at construction sites or ensure that they are properly secured.

Furthermore, the police are sternly warning individuals against purchasing stolen goods and encourage the public to promptly report any dubious activities to law enforcement.

Your cooperation in maintaining the safety and security of the community is greatly appreciated.
