A man who allegedly scammed a car dealership will find out his fate on July 23.

Dylan Simon is facing eight charges to include larceny by clerk, uttering, obtaining money by false pretences and forgery.

It is said that he defrauded his employer Hadeed Motors while working as a clerk at the establishment.

According to reports, in the period from April 2020 to May 2020, when the country was under lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the company conducted a series of manual transactions.

Upon the business’s reopening in late May that year, the internal auditor performed routine checks to ensure the consistency of transactions made during the lockdown with the records in the accounting software program.

Allegedly, the auditor identified discrepancies in transactions associated with Simon and promptly reported these findings to the company’s board of directors.

Subsequent investigations revealed inconsistencies in bank deposit details compared to the information recorded in the software, along with the unauthorized release of a company vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, Simon was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including the larceny of a Suzuki Vitara, forging a signature on an exit and entry form for the vehicle, and uttering the false exit and entry form.

Additionally, he is accused of entering fraudulent data, including a fictitious cheque number, into Hadeed’s system, obtaining a commission for the sale of the vehicle under false pretenses, and another count of vehicle larceny.

The charges span a period from December 30, 2019, to January 3, 2020.

Simon’s trial before Justice Tunde Bakre ended on Friday.

He insists that he is being framed.
