Ayre wants to transform Barbuda’s old airport terminal and runway into business hub

14 July 2024 - 05:46

Ambassador Calvin Ayre

Investment mogul, Ambassador Calvin Ayre has expressed an interest in transforming the old airport runway and terminal in Barbuda into a business hub.

The announcement was made Saturday afternoon by Prime Minister, Hon. Gaston Browne on Pointe FM. He says those talks are at an exploratory stage at this point.

Ambassador Ayre has reportedly said the investment would also give his entity a launchpad to serve sections of the region with his helicopter operation.

Cabinet indicated at its meeting this week that the business hub would include various commercial enterprises.

The area now occupied by the airport in Codrington will be repurposed when the new airport on the sister isle is given the greenlight to operate by the Eastern Civil Aviation Authority.
