There is assurance from the police top brass that all efforts will be made to ensure that residents, patrons and others enjoy a safe and incident free carnival.
The events get underway from July 20th to August 6th under the theme “AH love it here”.
Police Commissioner Atlee Rodney told state media this week that administrative staff with the police force will also be deployed during this critical period.
“It’s a practice we do especially doing Carnival during Christmas time or any major event that we have to host. We minimize the amount of administrative staff that we have and up the operational team. We are just preparing the operational order and some of these persons who would normally do administrative work would find themselves being involved in operational work for Carnival,” Rodney said.
Rodney also shared that engagement with the public will be priority given the important role the public plays in the process.
“We are hoping that we are going to have a great carnival, a number of activities, a number of prevents, and all we are asking the general public adhere to the safety tips we are giving you when it comes to personal property and business and home safety. Those who are driving should also take the precautions and take the advice we are given,” the Police Commissioner said.
Carnival kicks off with the APUA INET Party Monarch Semi-finals Cooler Fete at the Antigua Recreations Grounds on July 20th, the National Urban Renewal Development Queen of Carnival on July 21, Opening of Carnival Parade and ACB Junior Party Monarch on July 25th.
The action continues with Face Off on July 26th, Oasis T-Shirt Mass, West Indies Oil Company Junior Carnival, ECAB Mr and Miss Teenage, Druesday, Jaycees Caribbean Queen Show. The activities comes to a close on August 6th with the Parade of the Bands and Last Lap.
