PM Leaves Seat Open in All Saints West for Anthony Smith

21 July 2024 - 08:18

Anthony Smith welcomed by ABLP members on the day of his swearing in.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne said he has kept a seat open for Anthony Smith in All Saints West.

Despite Smith’s resignation from the United Progressive Party and his current status as an independent candidate, Browne is confident that Smith will be the ABLP’s candidate for that constituency in the next elections.

“We went ahead and canceled the primary…I can tell you that we will be leaving a seat vacant for him. So, all the Labour Party supporters must understand that at some point comrade Anthony Smith coming as the representative for Labour”, he said

This is perhaps why the ABLP has shifted Lamin Newton to All Saint East and St Luke Constituency.

PM Browne announced that Newton will be the caretaker for that constituency and the candidate in the next general elections.

Pringle has won that seat in two consecutive terms. This has been a stronghold for the UPP.
