Soca Monarch Finalists Announced, Reigning Groovy Champion Steps Down
The Antigua and Barbuda Soca Monarch competition has taken an unexpected turn this year, with the announcement of 14 finalists.
This change comes as reigning groovy soca champion Claudette Peters has decided not to defend her title, opening the door for an additional contestant to join the ranks.
In a highly competitive semi-final round last night, judges had the challenging task of selecting the top performers from a pool of 26 talented artists.
The resulting lineup showcases a mix of established names and rising stars in the soca scene.
The finalists who will be vying for the crown are:
- Young Vice
- Tammy
- Raiine
- Buttaz
- DJ Who
- Queen Thalia
- Kid Fresh
- Tian Winter
- Drastic
- Kimmy
- Soca Villain
- Sammie C
- Ge’Eve
- Island Prince
These artists impressed the judges with their performances, earning their spots in the final showdown.
The competition is set to reach its climax on August 4, when the finalists will face off against last year’s reigning Monarch, Empress.
The increased number of finalists is expected to add an extra layer of excitement and unpredictability to an already thrilling event.
