In a dazzling display of beauty, talent, and poise, seven delegates competed for the prestigious title of Antigua and Barbuda Queen of Carnival 2024. The event, a highlight of the island nation’s cultural calendar, saw contestants vying for various awards across multiple categories.

Desrie Markham, representing Rawdon and Associates, emerged victorious, claiming the coveted crown and succeeding 2023’s Queen, Ishekelle Corbin. Dominique Trotman, Miss Antigua & Barbuda Port Authority, secured the first runner-up position, while Shania Samuel, representing LIAT 2020, was named second runner-up

The competition showcased the diverse talents and qualities of the contestants. Chandera Codrington, Miss Furniture Gallery, impressed the judges by winning both the Best in Interview and Best in Costume categories. Kevinya Joseph, Miss Cool and Smooth, dazzled in the swimwear segment, while Shania Samuel’s performance earned her the Best Performing Talent award. Desrie Markham, in addition to her overall win, also clinched the Best in Evening Wear title.

Other contestants who participated in the pageant included Shakkia Carlos (Miss Arton Capital) and J’amalyn Stevens (Miss Kennedy’s Club Ltd.), each bringing their unique charm to the competition.

The event not only celebrated the beauty and talents of Antigua and Barbuda’s young women but also served as a platform to showcase the country’s rich cultural heritage and contemporary flair. As Desrie Markham begins her reign as Queen of Carnival 2024, she is set to become an ambassador for Antigua and Barbuda’s vibrant carnival traditions and cultural scene.
