Dawson Nathaniel, a well-known figure in Newfield’s bar scene found himself in legal hot water last week and now has to spend a year behind bars.
The proprietor of the popular Road House Restaurant and Bar, 58-year-old Dawson Nathaniel, appeared before Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel on Monday having pleaded guilty to serious weapons charges last Friday.
Nathaniel entered guilty pleas to a total of five charges – three related to illegal firearm possession and two for unlawful possession of ammunition.
These charges stem from a police operation conducted last Wednesday, during which law enforcement officials uncovered the contraband items while executing search warrants at both Nathaniel’s business premises and residence.
Despite 100 signatures from members of his community begging for leniency, Nathaniel was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment.
Once a she he gone, speaking from experience.Sorry family it shall pass.
These magistrates need to be fair and consistent! Persons of no fixed abode, with dubious sources of income are given a hefty fine for similar and worse offenses!! To hail this man for a whole year seems, in my opinion; unnecessarily harsh and personal. Maybe he ought not have chosen Sherfield Bowen as a lawyer!!! Justice is not blind in Antigua!!!! Meanwhile, Asot’s case involving his alleged assault on a female Police Officer has to wait 3 months for the judge to “decide” his fate and the magistrates husband accused of causing the death by dangerous driving of a young med student will probably never be called! Antigua is a horrible place when it comes to the equitable dispensation of justice!!!!!
