Guns and ammo lands popular bar owner on remand

A well-known figure in Newfield’s bar scene found himself in legal hot water this week.

The proprietor of the popular Road House Restaurant and Bar, 58-year-old Dawson Nathaniel, appeared before Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel on Friday morning, facing serious weapons charges.

Nathaniel entered guilty pleas to a total of five charges – three related to illegal firearm possession and two for unlawful possession of ammunition.

These charges stem from a police operation conducted on Wednesday, during which law enforcement officials uncovered the contraband items while executing search warrants at both Nathaniel’s business premises and residence.

Attorney Sherfield Bowen represented the defendant during the court proceedings.

Despite his guilty plea, Nathaniel was not immediately sentenced.

Magistrate Emanuel has scheduled the sentencing hearing for Monday.
