Virgin Atlantic Quadruples Flights to Antigua Amid Caribbean Route Shake-Up

In a significant boost for Antigua’s tourism industry, Virgin Atlantic has announced it will increase its flights to the island from once to four times a week starting October 28, 2024. This expansion is part of a broader restructuring of the airline’s Caribbean routes.

The increased service to Antigua will run until the end of April, providing a substantial uplift in airlift during the peak tourist season. This move positions Antigua as a key destination in Virgin Atlantic’s Caribbean network.

A Virgin spokesperson explained, “As we continue to focus on optimising our network, we’ve made the decision to increase our frequencies to Antigua, Barbados, and Cape Town next year.”

While Antigua sees a significant increase in flights, Virgin Atlantic is also boosting its Barbados service from seven to 10 flights a week. However, the airline will be suspending operations to the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos in February 2024.

The airline’s decision to prioritize Antigua reflects the island’s growing appeal as a tourist destination and its importance in Virgin Atlantic’s strategic plans. This increased air connectivity is expected to have a positive impact on Antigua’s tourism sector, potentially bringing more visitors and economic benefits to the island.

Travelers planning to visit Antigua will benefit from more flexible scheduling options and potentially increased capacity, which could lead to more competitive pricing. This development marks a promising turn for Antigua’s position in the competitive Caribbean tourism market.
