Police Commissioner Atlee Rodney has officially confirmed the launch of an investigation into a distressing incident involving police officers at RISE.
A widely circulated video on social media depicts the officers attempting to intervene in a situation with an apparently intoxicated woman.
The footage is alarming as it shows a police officer using excessive force, violently pushing the woman to the ground and causing her to strike her head on a piece of wood.
Commissioner Rodney disclosed that he first became aware of the incident through senior police officers and subsequently viewed the video on social media.
This is an ongoing situation, and Antigua.news will continue to update as more information becomes available.
Police officers in Antigua, I implore you.
Don’t lose your humanity and compassion like most of the police in the USA!
I’ve lived in the U.S.for over 40 years and have never had a run in with the police. Neither has any of my family members! For the most part, police in the U.S. do their jobs in a courteous and humane manner! The few you see on the news are exceptions! What was done to this young woman would have come under scrutiny no matter where it happened!!

Unless you don’t have television and don’t see the brutality that goes on in the US
That’s how quite a few police in Antigua handle any situation. I have come across one that said he would bust my head if I didn’t move my vehicle when he tl me .I still refused to move since he was not in uniform and never identified himself as a police officer. He was pushing a wheelbarrow when he first approached me and yelled over your car
I keep looking at this video over and over. And I cannot understand how this officer could push the woman with such force.
This situation could have been resolved much better !!
Police keep abusing their power everywhere they go. That power will overtake them one day
Well she surly didn’t have to be pushed like that. If her neck had gotten broken.
Everybody talking about the Police officers. What kind of woman is that? Drunk and disorderly. Half naked. Acting like a wild cat. Handling police. Resisting arrest? Pure sketel vibes. I mean maybe she didn’t have to be handled that way but she was treated just the way she was dresses…”like a nobody:
Policemen are the same everywhere. I wonder how he would feel if someone treats his sister like that? I hate police.
Tell me these sucker’s are arrested. Please tell me. But then again this antigua where criminals are in high office ruling the land.
again I’m appalled by this. Officers are supposed to protect and serve, not escalate situations.
We need to focus on de-escalation tactics rather than physical force in these situations
This kind of excessive force is why many people distrust the police
This video shows a clear abuse of power. How will this be addressed?
Police killed Manny James. He was unarmed. He was shot in the back. One year later. Nothing happened. Antigua is going straight to hell
