UPP Leader Jamal Pringle

The leader of the United Progressive Party, Jamal Pringle, has raised serious concerns about the country’s increasing crime rate.
In a press conference on Monday, Pringle expressed the seriousness of his worries and disclosed that he had written to the Commissioner of Police, Atlee Rodney, requesting a meeting with the police leadership to discuss these issues.

However, Pringle lamented that despite more than a month having passed, there has been no response or even acknowledgment of his letter from Commissioner Rodney.

“We have been expressing concerns about gun crimes. As a citizen, parliamentarian, and family man, I share the pain and fear residents are feeling…I wrote to the commissioner of police to share the party’s anxiety over the crime situation and the fact that the police have not articulated any plan to combat it.”

I asked Commissioner Rodney. for a meeting with our MPs, and I volunteered the party’s assistance in any efforts of the police force, and up to date, I am still waiting, not even a courtesy from the commissioner.”

Pringle wants Prime Minister Gaston Browne to call out Rodney and Sir Steadroy Benjamin for failing to address the issue of crime in the country adequately. PM was also chastised for comments he made on his Facebook page about a repeated offender who was involved in a gun crime.

The police needs to take their work more serious in fighting crimes on the island because u can’t tell me someone calling about a robbery and police taking close to 2 hours arriving at the scene will make it any chance of catching these thieves
