Police Commissioner Atlee Rodney

Police Commissioner Atlee Rodney has reaffirmed the police’s readiness and commitment to working closely with members of the public and the business community on adopting safety measures in response to the recent upsurge in criminal activities.

“Those groups that have formed, we make ourselves available to them and provide general safety tips. We’ve also been reaching out to the business sector, encouraging them to discuss any security gaps with us,” Rodney stated during the Browne and Browne Show on Saturday.

The increase in criminal activities has been evident in recent weeks. Last Thursday, a robbery at a Superette in Parham turned deadly when one of the three robbers was killed in a shootout with police.

On August 15th, the body of 27-year-old Kelsi Cain of Cassada Gardens was found near Blackman’s Estate, after being last seen alive the previous afternoon.

On Sunday, the body of 15-year-old Achazia James of Upper Fort Road was discovered by beachgoers with apparent multiple chop wounds. She was reportedly last seen alive in the early hours of Sunday, August 18th.
