LISTEN: Violent Music Blamed for Surge in Crime Among Youth

The government supports suggestions and studies indicating that exposure to violent music lyrics has been linked to emotional and behavioral problems, including aggression, substance abuse, risky sexual behaviors, and suicide.

Information Minister Melford Nicholas stated that much of the music young people listen to has been known to influence their behavior.

One study found a relationship between violent song lyrics and an increase in aggressive thoughts and feelings of hostility.

  5. While I understand, music is not the foundational reason why kids act out. It is apart of the problem, though lack of parenting and environment is soley to blame. Honestly, f I had a child I would know if they are listening to violent music based on the shift of their personality. Also, to better explain my point, if I as a child, go to my parents about problems I am struggling with, and dismissed in the end, ofcourse I am gonna saught to my own therapy in this case music. There is violent music, then soulful music. Although soulful music is calming, violent music tends to be a type of therapy where you can get your anger and frustration out. All in all, violent is not soley to blame but parenting.
