Candlelight Vigil for Achazia James on September 7th

A candlelight vigil has been organized in memory of 15-year-old Achazia James from Fort Road.

The vigil is scheduled to take place on September 7th, commencing at 5 pm from the Fort Road Corner to the Fort James Football Field. Residents are encouraged to participate in the vigil and bring candles to honor her memory.

James tragically became the country’s 10th homicide victim of the year, following the discovery of her body at Runaway Beach.

The 15-year-old’s body was found with multiple chop wounds by two beachgoers, sparking a high-level investigation by law enforcement.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Inspector Frankie Thomas, confirmed that James was last seen alive just after 3 am on a Sunday and was pronounced dead at 8:53 am.

This senseless killing has elicited shock and sorrow from the public, especially given James’ status as a student at Princess Margaret School.

Notably, James is the second female teenager to be murdered this year, following the tragic discovery of 16-year-old Yennifer Bridge’s body along Fig Tree Drive in a forested area back in June.
