Antiguan duo are sole Caribbean graduates at University of East London
By Zaya Williams
In a proud moment for the Caribbean nation, two students from Antigua and Barbuda have become the only graduates from the region to receive their Master’s degrees from the University of East London (UEL) this year.
Laurisa Francis, who serves as the Communications and Implementation Officer within the Ministry of Legal Affairs, Labor and Public Safety, and Elisa Graham, the Public Relations Officer of the Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission, successfully completed their Master of Science in International Relations at the university.
The graduation ceremony was held on campus to mark the institution’s 126th anniversary.
Both Francis and Graham were recipients of prestigious scholarships, with funding provided by the Prime Minister’s Scholarship Committee and the UNICAF Programme, enabling them to pursue their postgraduate studies at the renowned British university.
