Backlog of Social Security Pension to Be Cleared Up Soon

Director of the Social Security Scheme, David Matthias

All outstanding pension payments for individuals whose pensions were due during the COVID-19 pandemic will be completely resolved.

That is the word from the Director of the Social Security Scheme, David Matthias, who acknowledged the backlog of individuals awaiting pension payments and expressed his staff’s commitment to resolving the matter as soon as possible.

He explained that pension payments for individuals between 2020 and 2022 were not processed due to the pandemic.

While the payments for 2020 and 2021 have been completed, efforts are ongoing to finalize the payments for 2022.

Matthias expressed confidence that this would be completed, enabling payments to commence by the end of this month.

He also mentioned that work on processing payments for 2023 and 2024 is underway concurrently with bringing 2022 up to date.

Once the backlog for 2022 is cleared by the end of September, no further backlog is expected, and all eligible pensioners will receive their monthly payments as usual.

Matthias further explained that payments were delayed during the pandemic due to staff working from home and reduced interactions with the elderly, who were considered at-risk individuals in society.

  2. SS is the only income some people have to rely on (as I’m sure Mr. Matthias is aware); so it is a shame that these payments were not hertofore made a top priority. People need that money to survive on ,sir; so please make haste to get them their hard earned money. Please and thank you.
