Minister of Agriculture and Senator Turner Tour Parham Fisheries Complex

Minister of Agriculture, Lands, Fisheries, and Blue Economy Anthony Smith toured the Parham Fisheries Complex following an invitation from ABLP Caretaker for St. Peter, Senator Rawdon Turner. The visit aimed to assess the current state of the facility, which serves as a critical hub for the local fishing community.

Fishermen and other constituents rely heavily on the complex for their livelihoods, and concerns have been raised regarding the facility’s efficiency and safety. The tour marks a pivotal step towards addressing these concerns and ensuring the complex meets the needs of its users.

During the tour, both Minister Smith and Senator Turner discussed plans to upgrade and reorganize the operations at the fisheries complex. As part of this initiative, they will consult with the users and staff of the facility to ensure that the proposed improvements align with the needs of those who depend on it daily.

These consultations will guide the planning and execution of the upgrades, aiming to enhance the overall functionality of the complex. The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure in St. Peter, while ensuring that the fishing industry continues to thrive.

Local fishermen expressed optimism that these improvements, developed in collaboration with stakeholders, will boost their daily operations and contribute to the economic growth of the area.
