Progress on Government’s Plan for Heavy-Duty Operators’ Training Academy

The Government’s plan to establish a Heavy-Duty Operators’ Training Academy is progressing, as key stakeholders recently met to discuss the initiative.

The academy aims to train young individuals in operating heavy machinery like backhoes, excavators, bulldozers, and cranes.

The meeting, chaired by Minister of Works Maria Bird-Browne, involved representatives from various ministries and educational institutions.

The discussions were productive, with plans to commence the academy on January 2nd, 2025.

The curriculum will encompass both theoretical and practical training, focusing on safety, mechanical aspects, and hands-on experience.

The initiative has been praised for addressing the current shortage of certified heavy-duty equipment operators.
