Charges Dropped, Deportation Ordered in Hostage Case

A Jamaican national accused of attempted murder and unconfinement had all charges withdrawn in court on Wednesday, leading to an order for his immediate deportation.

The decision came after the alleged victim, Campbell’s former employer, requested that the charges be dropped.

Deron Campbell, 42, faced serious allegations stemming from a violent incident on October 29 of last year. He had been charged with attempted murder, unlawful confinement, and wounding, following claims that he threatened his employer and stabbed him in the ribs during a confrontation.

Campbell allegedly held his employer’s wife and their eight-year-old daughter hostage in a bathroom at knifepoint. The employer’s 21-year-old son also suffered injuries during the incident.

All charges against Campbell were withdrawn yesterday.

Following this development, the court issued a deportation order, mandating Campbell’s return to Jamaica today.

  1. So you’re sending him back to do the same thing? A man kidnapped your family and you dropped charges? I wonder if the employer was in the wrong!
