Slight Change to Independence Day Food Fair (visitantiguabarbuda.com)
Antigua and Barbuda’s annual Independence Day Food Fair is set to take on a new flavor this year as organizers adapt to a scheduling conflict with cricket matches.
The popular event, typically held inside the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium, will instead line the road just outside the venue on November 1.
Gilbert Laudate, Chair of the Independence Food Fair, explained the change: “Due to cricket matches scheduled for October 31 and November 2, we’re forced to move the fair outside the cricket ground this year. We’ll be setting up along the road outside the Vivian Richards Stadium.”
Despite the location shift, Laudate assures that the essence of the fair remains unchanged. “We’re working tirelessly to ensure that our exhibitors and patrons are satisfied and placed in a good environment,” he stated.
The organizers are committed to maintaining the area’s cleanliness, promising a “clean and tidy place” for the cricket match scheduled for the following day.
The fair, a showcase of Antigua and Barbuda’s culinary heritage, is organized by the Ministry of Creative Industries. It offers a unique opportunity for locals and visitors alike to sample a wide array of traditional dishes and local delicacies.
Laudate encourages everyone to attend, emphasizing the importance of supporting local cuisine. “We’re asking everyone to come out on November 1st from 8 o’clock in the morning to be part of the National Independence Food Fair and to support our local culinary delights,” he said.
