St Lucian appointed new General Manager of Antigua Cruise Port

Mike Maura, Jr., the Regional Director of Global Ports Holding (GPH) Americas, has announced the appointment of Gasper George as the General Manager of Antigua Cruise Port.

Mr. George, who hails from Saint Lucia, also holds the position of Director of Operations and Product Development for Saint Lucia Cruise Port and GPH Eastern Caribbean.

He has been diligently preparing for the launch of ambitious commercial expansion plans at the port, coinciding with the start of the 2024/25 cruise season.

Mr. Maura, Jr. emphasized the strategic significance of George’s appointment at this pivotal time for the growth of Antigua Cruise Port, stating that Gasper’s expertise and commitment to excellence make him the ideal leader for this key position.

Since joining GPH in late 2023, George has proven to be an invaluable asset to the team, significantly contributing to the development and launch of the Saint Lucia Cruise Port redevelopment project and other important regional initiatives.

Mr. Maura, Jr. also expressed gratitude to Cynthia Jacobs-Browne, the Financial Controller, for her assistance and support as interim General Manager prior to Gasper’s appointment.

Her leadership during that transitional period was invaluable, ensuring continuity and stability within the team. Gasper George brings a wealth of experience in stakeholder engagement, management, and business development, with prior roles at the Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) and service on key local tourism and industry boards.

He expressed his enthusiasm for his new role, stating that his focus will be on fostering sustainable growth while enhancing the overall visitor experience.

Under George’s leadership, Antigua Cruise Port is poised for exciting developments that will enhance its standing as a leading cruise destination in the Caribbean.

    Is it I who cannot read or what. The man clearly hairs from St. Lucia where is the part he bacame Antiguan? Make it make sense?

    So again, no Antiguan and Barbudan qualified for this employment position? That is why I don’t blame the A&B people with qualifications that migrated for better employment opportunities. The government doesn’t care about it human resources. They can’t find money to pay its own people a better salary, but find money to pay non-nationals with benefits. I am sorry for the A&B graduating from UWI Five Island Campus who doesn’t have a job.
