The Barbuda Council has apparently backed out of a planned meeting of the joint consultative committee that was scheduled for Thursday.

Prime Minister’s Chief Staff said the reason behind the postponement was due the fact that an agenda was not put together.

He is confident this will not stop the government from moving on with planned developments for the sister isle.

“We are moving ahead because we know that delaying tactics are a part of the approach which they have taken in order to stymie progress on Barbuda. But we are moving ahead even as VC Bird use to say the dogs may bark, but the wagons keep rolling on”, Hurst said.

The meeting’s agenda had included the construction of a new primary school in Barbuda, renewable energy expansion, and millions of dollars to be spent on roads.

No new date for resumption has therefore been set.

The joint committee was a recommendation made by the Commonwealth Secretariat to manage developmental issues on Barbuda.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne and Member of Parliament for Barbuda, Trevor Walker, are to serve on the committee.

Surprised? They have to retreat to their pit to recalibrate. After the successful opening of a new airport on the so-called sister island and their comical attempts to derail the inevitable, the hunchback need to return their den to come up with something else…….spectacular. Not even their last-minute reminder/ threat on the eve of this momentous occasion of an imminent law suit attracted more than a passing “chuptz”. So this latest move was anticipated. Anyone surprised?
