The Principal of The University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus (UWI FIC), Pro Vice Chancellor and Professor Justin Robinson, has accepted an esteemed invitation to deliver the 26th Sir Arthur Lewis Memorial Lecture.
This significant event will take place at the impressive headquarters of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, located in Basseterre, St. Kitts. In a recent communique issued by the ECCB, it was announced that Professor Robinson will address the audience with a thought-provoking lecture centered on the theme: “Resilience and Shared Prosperity: Implications and Imperatives for Small Island Developing States.”
This timely topic is particularly relevant given the unique challenges faced by these nations.
The lecture is scheduled to commence at the Sir Cecil Jacobs Auditorium within the ECCB Headquarters on November 13, starting at 6:00 p.m. Professor Robinson hails from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and is a distinguished alumnus of the University of the West Indies, having earned a Bachelor of Science in Management Studies with First Class Honours from the Cave Hill Campus.
A renowned academic, he currently serves as a Professor of Corporate Finance. His scholarly work focuses on critical areas such as Capital Markets in Developing Countries, Public Finance, Financial Risk Management, and Corporate Finance.
Throughout his prolific career, he has authored over 50 refereed publications featured in numerous prestigious regional and international journals.
The Sir Arthur Lewis Memorial Lecture, which was introduced by the ECCB in November 1996, serves to honor the legacy of Sir Arthur Lewis, a Nobel Laureate in Economics.
Sir Arthur is celebrated for his pivotal contributions to the advancement of Caribbean regional integration.
This upcoming lecture is particularly significant, as it serves as the highlight before the Annual Conference with licensed financial institutions operating across the eight ECCB member countries.
The ECCB warmly invites the public to engage with this pivotal event, which will be broadcast live on ECCB Connects’ Facebook and YouTube platforms, in addition to national television and radio broadcasts throughout the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union.
