Bench Warrant Issued for Moesha Wright in High-Profile Wig Theft Case

A bench warrant has been issued for Moesha Wright, one of the women implicated in a significant wig theft case that has garnered public attention.

Wright failed to appear in court yesterday for her scheduled committal proceedings, leaving her co-accused, Natherna Rodgers, as the sole presence in the courtroom.

Chief Magistrate Dexter Wason, before issuing the warrant, noted that Wright had attended the previous hearing on September 12 of this year, which adds an element of concern regarding her absence.

The committal proceedings for the case have now been postponed and are set to take place on January 29, 2025.

Both Wright and Rodgers, who reside on Bishopsgate Street, are facing serious charges for receiving stolen goods valued at an astonishing $127,675.

Their legal troubles stem from a brazen incident that unfolded between March 31 and April 1, 2024, when Everything Hair 268—a well-known hair store situated on Old Parham Road—was burglarized.

During the escapade, it is alleged that over 100 wigs, along with a variety of hair products, were stolen, impacting the store’s inventory and business significantly.

The pairs’ arrest came after a thorough police investigation, which led to a third individual being charged in connection to the case. Jahshsiene Green, who was arrested separately, pleaded guilty to receiving specific wigs valued at $2,120.

A police search of her home on April 5 revealed the stolen items, and she was subsequently fined $700 for her involvement.

Given the substantial monetary value of the stolen goods linked to both Wright and Rodgers, their case must be tried in the High Court, indicating the serious nature of the charges they face as the legal proceedings continue to unfold.
