Police Commissioner Atlee Rodney

The majority of cases that the police cracked this year were as a result of information from the public

So says Police Commissioner Atlee Rodney, who took the opportunity to commend the public for their invaluable assistance in solving numerous crimes throughout the year.

On State Media, Rodney expressed gratitude for the community’s engagement and support, highlighting the crucial role that citizen cooperation plays in enhancing public safety.

Rodney described 2024 as a year likely to present significant challenges for law enforcement, predicting it to be one of the busiest years yet.

“It was a busy year for the police. In the middle of the year…we had an upsurge where quite a few business places were robbed. The general public were right there with us. A number of the high-level cases we ended up investigating, we got from the public”, he said

Rodney said some of the illegal firearms that were pulled off the streets were also as a result of public assistance

His acknowledgment celebrates the community’s collaborative spirit and emphasizes the police force’s ongoing commitment to ensuring a safer environment for all.

  1. Antigua is my adopted country. I fell in love with it as a young lady and promised myself that if I ever migrated it would be there.
We slept with our windows opened and only closed them for hurricanes. I am happy to know that the public are trusting and confiding in Police Force.

  2. Congrats Mr Commissioner for admitting that we the general public are playing a very important roll in crime solving. The other ranks and files of police force must bear that in mind when they are engaging with us and stop treating every body as criminals. Antiguans are basically good people treat us with some respect
