A Potters family is in police custody after police searched their home and found an illegal firearm and several rounds of ammunition.
Around 4:45 am on Saturday, 4 January, the police executed a search warrant on a home at Potters and discovered a firearm with several magazines and several rounds of ammunition. Four people were taken into custody for questioning in the ongoing investigation.
Also, in a separate incident on Saturday, the police arrested a 27-year-old man of Clare Hall for unlawful possession of Cannabis.
The police were in the Clare Hall area carrying out several stop and search exercises when they found the young man with a portion of the controlled substance in his knapsack. The incident occurred around 8:20 am.
Coming out of 2024, the police would have recovered around 60 firearms and excess of 500 different caliber rounds of ammunition from the streets. This recent seizure brings the number of firearms seized for 2025 to two.
The police vows to intensify their crime-fighting efforts for 2025 in an effort to rid the streets of illegal firearms and ammunition, as well as to tackle the crime situation from all corners of the country.
The Police Administration is also expressing gratitude to the public for their continued support and cooperation.
