PM Browne Continues to Lobby for New US Embassy in Antigua

16 January 2025 - 05:55

This week PM Browne met with Ambassador Roger F. Nyhus

According to notes from Wednesday’s Cabinet meeting, the proposed ‘Open Skies’ Agreement, which seeks to enhance air travel and trade between the two nations, was a significant topic of discussion.

However, the Prime Minister noted that no conclusive agreement was reached during their talks.

Another key issue discussed was the potential establishment of a new U.S. Embassy in Antiguan and Barbudan territory.

As discussions progress, the Prime Minister emphasized that the future of this initiative hinges on the U.S. State Department’s forthcoming decision.

It remains uncertain whether Antigua and Barbuda will be selected as one of the two island nations designated to host a new embassy.

In further developments, the Prime Minister expressed his intention to bolster the local aviation sector by proposing that private jets owned by homeowners in Barbuda be registered as Antigua and Barbuda flagged aircraft.

This move is anticipated to enhance the value of aircraft registration and promote the islands as a favorable aviation destination.

  1. The American government will not establish its new embassy in a country where most of the population is not native-born. Antigua and Barbuda is one of them country. For example, the Chinese especially is one of America’s biggest threats. America see our present government as one who will sell out Antigua and Barbuda to their enemies for a few dollars. They are so much people who have gained the A&B Passport through the CIP, and some of these people are wanted by America. This article did not mention anything about the money owed to ANU by the US government —WTO decision.
