A new champion will be crowned today in the Patrick C. Whyte Cup Male Under-20 finals.
The school football finals is scheduled to take place at the Antigua Recreation Grounds starting at 3:30 where former champions Princess Margaret School (PMS) will battle powerhouse team, ABICE.
PMS defeated ASSS 3-1 to advance to the finals while ABICE trounced ASC, 5-0.
For PMS, Greg Williams (18th minute), Jermarion Edwards (28th minute), and Dahvia Hughes (37th minute) were the goal-scorers in that semi-final encounter while for ABICE, Karique Knight recorded a hattrick scoring in the 7th, 31st and 57th minutes of play.
Deante Anthony (34th minute) and Jahmar Malone (48th minute) were the other goal-scorers.
Before that match-up, last year’s champions Antigua State College (ASC) will face off versus All Saints Secondary School (ASSS) in the third-place match.
Several awards are up for grabs including the Golden Boots Award for the top goal-scorer. Thus far Greg Williams of PMS leads with 13 goals. His teammate, Howayne James is far behind with seven, and ASSS’ Jevaughn Jarvis with six.
In the Under-16 male division, Joshua James of St. Joseph’s Academy (SJA) made 11 goals, Tafari Looby of Ottos Comprehensive School (OCS), eight goals, and his teammate, Demarre Swift seven goals.
PMS’ Alan Henry leads with 18 goals. Tevon Henderson of Clare Hall Secondary School (CHSS) has 12 and Tafari Parker of Antigua Grammar School (AGS) has 11.
