Dear Editor,
In the spirit of transparency and accountability, the people of Antigua and Barbuda are demanding answers from the Honorable Kelvin Simon. The question on everyone’s lips is simple yet pressing: “Did you buy a boat?”
Over the past 12 months, rumors have circulated about the potential purchase of a boat by the Hon. Simon, a prominent figure known for his vocal stance on government transparency and accountability. As a public servant who has consistently called for openness from others, particularly regarding the Prime Minister’s assets, the public now turns the spotlight on him.
The following questions are being directed at the Hon. Kelvin Simon:
1. *Did you purchase a boat within the past 12 months?*
2. *If so, were campaign funds used to finance the purchase?*
These questions are not merely speculative; they are rooted in the principles of transparency that the Hon. Simon himself has championed.
The people of Antigua and Barbuda deserve to know the truth, especially from a leader who has consistently attempted to hold others to high standards of accountability.
The Hon. Simon’s calls for the Prime Minister to disclose details about his assets have been met with widespread support, but the same energy must now be applied to his own actions.
As the saying goes, “What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.”
The public’s demand for answers is not about casting doubt but about ensuring that all leaders, regardless of their political affiliation, are held to the same standards.
Transparency is not a selective principle—it is a cornerstone of democracy.
Antigua and Barbuda is watching and waiting. Hon. Kelvin Simon, the ball is in your court. Did you buy a boat? The nation deserves to know.
Hahaha. So somebody cannot buy a boat?
Me noo understand the reason why ve cant buy a Boat how many people in ANTIGUA own a Boat .its not their DAMN BUSINESS .LEAVE THE GUY ALONE AND LET HIM LIVE HIS LIFE LIKE ANY ONE ELSE.
This is ridiculous. Mr Simon is a working man, though a member of cabinet, he is on the opposition bench. He is not a minister and has no access to government funds. So what if he buys a boat, a car, a house, a plane with his own money? What does he need to be transparent about compared to the ministers of the ruling party who, it is alledged uses we the people money to do their personal business as they like
Gaston Brown where did you get them millions of dollars from to buy all that you have. Is it from the sale of passports and all ya shady deals. Your salary is not so big and just before election and before you became prime minister your businesses were all up for sale. The fool with his ill gotten gain will soon depart.
So wtf if he did.
You all jus a jealous bunch of losers who want answers to something that’s non of ur business.
Go buy u a boat
It is corruption to buy a boat using campaign funds. And he knows that or else he would have answered the question. You can be asking for others to be transparent and you remain opaque. You van be calling on others to declare where they get things from while you hide the truth from the people. If you can be non-transparent now, what happens if you form the government.
You sound like an ass
Do-Must-Love-So I agree with you since it would indeed be a campaign violation and a lack of transparency which could cast doubt on Mr. Simon politically going forward.
Antigua.news leave SHugy alone, please. You are being bankrolled from Spain. You don’t understand the struggles. Your news director is living lavishly…Always in a new car… Your owner is a multi-millionaire…Why must Shugy not have a mini boat? Being rich is not for one set. Gaston Browne and his clowns want nobody to eat sushi…we must eat crackers. I applaud you Shugy if you have a boat, a plane, a horse…get what is yours my brother
Whoever wrote this sound soo tink and dunce. What campaign funds can he get so to purchase a boat. And lets be reminded that he is not in any position to touch Antigua taxpayers dollars to buy a boat for his own personal gain. Whatever he bpught he did so legally. Chupz. Sickening right now.
The people need to ask Gaston Browne where he got his wealth in such a short period since he became prime minister. Did Gaston buy a boat and use taxpayers’ or campaign money to purchase it? He is sailing around Antigua and Barbuda on that boat.
Like Kelvin Simon, he does not have access to people’s purse. If he bought a boat, it would be from his assets. All campaign money for St Mary’s North Branch goes directly to the Branch, not to the Parliamentary Representative Kelvin Simon. The Branch’s treasurer controls the funds.
The St Marys North Branch needs to produce financial statements for its campaign funds and spending.
Gaston, the people of Antigua and Barbuda need to know how you spent the billions of CIP dollars over the years and until now!!!
This writer sound so dunce it’s actually irritating!! Him buying a boat means what!! And campaign funds on UPP can buy boat? Did you have that energy to the alpha Nero?? How much was spent on that! Antiguans and barbudans don’t want to know if a citizen buys a boat we want to know who collecting the rent for the building West indies oil pan! Who fah money refurbished the building?? We want to know how the road money done and what’s happening with the cancer center.
