Hotels Sector Sees Average Occupancy Rates of Nearly 70% for 2024
In 2024, Antigua and Barbuda achieved an overall occupancy rate of 69.1%, according to the Antigua and Barbuda Hotels and Tourist Association, which provided insights into the sector’s performance over the past year.
This figure represents a notable improvement from the 64.6% occupancy rate recorded in 2019, underscoring the destination’s strong rebound and lasting appeal to travelers.
The increase reflects the region’s adaptability to evolving market conditions and its success in attracting a wide variety of visitors.
The United States remains the primary source of tourists, with over half of the 330,281 travelers to Antigua and Barbuda in 2024 hailing from there.
Specifically, the US contributed 173,183 visitors, significantly outpacing the UK, which ranked second with 70,848 visitors—about 100,000 fewer than the US.
Overall, 2024 outperformed 2019, which was previously regarded as the peak year for tourism in Antigua and Barbuda.
