His Excellency Sir Rodney Williams, Governor General of Antigua and Barbuda, officially declared open the Reservoir Range Racetrack at a grand ceremony held on February 8, 2025.

This state-of-the-art facility is set to elevate the country’s profile in the world of motorsport and outdoor recreation, providing a hub for competition, skill development, and economic growth.

In his remarks, Sir Rodney Williams commended Mr. Carlo Falcone, Italian Honourary Consul and President of Antigua Pro Racing, for his visionary leadership and investment in the nation’s sporting culture.

He highlighted Mr. Falcone’s longstanding contributions to sailing and motorsport, both of which have significantly enhanced Antigua and Barbuda’s international sporting reputation.

The Governor General also announced the official recognition of Antigua Pro Racing as the National Sports Authority for Motorsport by the Government of Antigua and Barbuda.

Furthermore, the organization has been accepted as a member of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA)—the global governing body for motorsport. This affiliation ensures that the country’s motorsport industry aligns with international best practices in safety, sustainability, and inclusivity.

The Reservoir Range Racetrack will offer an exciting mix of activities, including:

The facility is expected to bring significant tourism and sporting benefits, attracting regional and international competitors. The first competition is scheduled for next weekend, with drivers from across the Caribbean already preparing to take part.

During the ceremony, Sir Rodney Williams also presented certificates to newly certified FIA Marshals, recognizing their commitment to maintaining safety and operational excellence at the racetrack.

In his closing remarks, the Governor General expressed optimism about the future of motorsport in Antigua and Barbuda, stating:

“May this facility bring excitement, sportsmanship, and international recognition to Antigua and Barbuda. Let the races begin!”

Also in attendance at the grand opening was the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Barbuda Affairs, The Honourable Paul Chet Greene who joined the Governor General in commending the investors for embarking on the initiative and cutting the ribbon to officially mark the start of a new era for motorsport in Antigua and Barbuda.
