Prime Minister Gaston Browne who is also the country’s minister of finance, has emphasized the importance of creating opportunities for local professionals to ascend to senior management positions within the country’s banking and tourism sectors.

His comments were directed specifically at the Antigua Commercial Bank and various major hotels operating in the country

On Saturday, Browne expressed concerns over the prevalence of foreign nationals occupying critical leadership roles in these organizations.

He highlighted the need for a structured senior management succession plan that focuses on developing local talent and ensuring that Antiguans are positioned to take on these vital roles.

Browne’s remarks come amid ongoing discussions about economic empowerment and the importance of fostering local expertise within key industries.

He reiterated his commitment to advocating for policies that prioritize the professional growth of residents, which he believes is essential for the sustainable development of the nation.
