In a bold step towards youth rehabilitation, the Bowers Rehabilitation Center, formerly known as the Boys Training School, will be declared officially opened moments from now.
The newly renovated facility will provide vital support and resources for young men as they navigate their personal development.
The center has undergone extensive renovations, transforming it into a modern space aimed at equipping its residents with the tools necessary for meaningful contributions to society.
It has been renamed in honor of Mr. Denis Bowers, who served as the principal from 1969 to 1992 and envisioned the institution as a transformative environment for young men.
The center will initially accommodate eight boys and operate under the auspices of the Ministry of Social and Urban Transformation.
Several government officials attended the opening ceremony, including Minister of Social Transformation Rawdon Turner, National Security Minister Sir Steadroy Benjamin, and Health Minister Sir Molwyn Joseph.
In a show of community support, the Rotary Club, represented by Paul Ryan, generously donated 25 laptops, two all-in-one computers, and a projector screen to the center.
Ryan emphasized the importance of caring for the equipment, assuring that the Rotary Club would replace any damaged items at no cost
The establishment of the Bowers Rehabilitation Center represents a promising new chapter for youth rehabilitation and support in Antigua and Barbuda.
