William and Kate have spent a secret week with their children on the luxury Caribbean island of Mustique (Hello! Magazine)

The Prince and Princess of Wales have returned home having spent a relaxing family break on the Caribbean island of Mustique.
William, Kate and their children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are believed to have flown business class to St Lucia, before taking a private flight to the luxury destination which is part of St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Few details were released so it was not known exactly where the family stayed, but it is thought very likely to have been at the Villa Antilles.
It was at that £27,000-a-week residence that they spent their summer in 2019 to mark Prince George’s sixth birthday – it is reported that prices are now up to £33k-per-week.
Not only is the villa lavish and exudes indulgence, it is also the epitome of seclusion as it’s set in a sprawling estate complete with sun-drenched terraces offering panoramic views of neighbouring Bequia and St Vincent and its own 60-foot infinity pool, which appears to spill seamlessly into the glistening turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea.
Wealth and opulence
Being royalty is not the deciding factor for visitors to Mustique however, just wealth… and lots of it! For instance, the opulent 17-bedroom Cotton House hotel sets guests back an eye-watering £1,200 per night.
Colin Tennant, later known as The 3rd Baron Glenconner, had discovered the island during a boat trip and purchased it for £45,000 back in 1958.
It earned the name Mustique due to the numerous mosquitoes, and The Mustique Companytransformed the island into a haven for the world’s richest individuals seeking privacy.
Unspoilt
The island has a certain charm thanks to development restraints. There are no towering hotels, or power lines to spoil its appearance, and there aren’t even any traffic lights due to the fact it is such a small island.
Family affair
With that in mind it is easy to see why it would be the ideal destination for William, Kate and the children.
The Princess of Wales’ parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, were also believed to have spent the week with the royals, with Mrs Middleton having celebrated her 70th birthday at the end of last month.
Celebrity hideout
Just a couple of years after acquiring the island, Mr Tennant gifted four-acres of the idyllic location to Princess Margaret as a wedding present, establishing the Royal connections that evidently persist to present day.
Other celebrities to have enjoyed extended breaks on the island include: Mick Jagger, Paul McCartney, John Travolta, Daniel Craig and Kate Moss.
Kate is still making a gradual return to work as she continues with her recovery from last year’s cancer diagnosis from which she announced at the end of last year, she is now in remission.
