ABHTA MOURNS THE PASSING OF IMMEDIATE PAST CHAIRMAN ALEX DE BRITO

9 March 2025 - 17:27

The Antigua & Barbuda Hotels and Tourism Association (ABHTA) is deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Alexandre De Brito E Cunha, our immediate past Chairman. Mr. De Brito, who handed over leadership to Craig Marshall in April 2023, remained a dedicated Board member until his passing.

For decades, Mr. De Brito was a pillar of the ABHTA, dedicating his life to advancing the hospitality industry in Antigua and Barbuda.

His unwavering commitment, particularly through challenges like the Covid-19 pandemic, was instrumental in steering the Association and ensuring the industry’s resilience.

Craig Marshall, ABHTA Chairman said “Mr. De Brito was not only an incredible leader but also a mentor and friend. He was instrumental in my transition into the role of Chairman, and I will forever be grateful for the wisdom and guidance he provided. His devotion to the industry and the Association will be greatly missed. My thoughts are with his wife Yovanni, his immediate family, and the entire team at Galley Bay Resort during this difficult time.”

Patrice Simon, ABHTA Executive Director said  “I am deeply saddened by the loss of Mr. De Brito. He afforded me the opportunity to join the ABHTA as Executive Director, and it was under his strong and steady guidance that I was able to work in this position with confidence. I will miss our many strategy sessions, his leadership, his time, and his mentorship. His presence, wisdom, and encouragement will be greatly missed. Rest in eternal peace, Mr. De Brito.”

The ABHTA Board of Directors and Secretariat extend our deepest condolences to Mr. De Brito’s wife, Yovanni, his extended family, and the entire team at Galley Bay Resort & Spa.

His legacy of leadership and service will forever be remembered.
