Team Antigua Barbuda are the 53rd Leeward Islands Debating champions.

Competing against St. Maarten in the finals on Saturday on their home soil, the duo of Pursuit Browne and Shaquana Simpson were not swayed by the home court advantage and presented their moot: ‘Without adequate soft skills training Caribbean youth will not achieve their fullest potential’.

The celebrations were in full swing in St. Maarten as it has been some time since the twin island nation has won this prestigious competition.

A day earlier, the duo of Jada Quinland and Leanna Browne defeated the defending champions, Nevis in the semi-finals. They won 720 to 696.

The dynamic duo successfully proposed the moot, “Parental leave should be equal for both mothers and fathers,” demonstrating a strong argument and well-crafted points.

Diamond Weaver and Gadija Buffonge gave the team the winning start in its first encounter last Thursday.
