Upland Development Project to Prioritize Point and Villa Residents, Announces Antigua Cruise Port

As construction continues at the port for the Upland Development Project, residents in the Point Area and Villa are being reassured that they will receive priority when the project is completed to ply their trade.

A series of townhall meetings will be held where the full details of the project will be explained to the people and where they can share their concerns and comments as well.

Antigua Cruise Port General Manager George Gasper while speaking on the Browne and Browne Show on Saturday went into detail on the latest project at the port which will see the erection of a state-of-the-art cruise terminal along with other entertainment facilities.

It is anticipated that the new cruise terminal, which will sit on approximately four acres, will significantly enhance the guest experience for thousands of homeporting and transit passengers while creating a positive ripple effect across the twin island nation.

It will boast a wide array of amenities including food and beverage, retail shops, a bazaar, a park with an ice cream parlour and the highly touted Antigua Day Club, complete with a swimming pool, restaurant, and bar.

The terminal, according to Gasper is expected to be completed by October of this year, while the other amenities have a completion date of 2026.

Residents in Point and Villa are also being warned of the ongoing noise pollution in the coming weeks.

“One would anticipate a bit of noise and disruptions within the area perhaps to what their comfort level is normally. Our timeline would really try to expedite that process. We’ll go between 60 to 90 days max for the piling,” Gasper said

Antigua Cruise Port (ACP), operated by Global Ports Holding (GPH), the world’s largest cruise port operator, officially commenced construction of a new state-of-the-art cruise terminal at its fifth berth on February 10.
