Opposition Leader Calls for Justice Following Murder of Chantel Crump

Leader of the UPP Jamal Pringe

As Opposition Leader and Political Leader of the United Progressive Party (UPP), I extend my most profound condolences to the parents, siblings, and extended family of Chantel Crump, who has become “The Nation’s Daughter.”

Her tragic loss touches every member of our community, and we stand united in grief, mourning together as one national family.

The murder of a CHILD is unconscionable. We condemn those responsible for this terrible crime, which our society must ensure never happens again. Every child, every citizen, and every resident of this country has the fundamental RIGHT to live in peace, safety, and security.

Already, too many families bear the wounds of unresolved tragedy and absence of closure.

Therefore, I call upon Prime Ministe Gaston Browne, Public Safety Minister Sir Steadroy Benjamin, and all Police authorities to commit every available resource to investigating this outrageous act.

I take this opportunity to thank Acting Commissioner Jeffers on the work he has done on this case, so far. Chantel’s family and the people of Antigua and Barbuda deserve nothing less than complete accountability, and we demand that anyone involved in this atrocity, directly or indirectly, be swiftly brought to justice.

May the soul of this innocent child rest in eternal peace, and may her family find strength and comfort during this time of unimaginable grief.
