PM Browne Unveils Detailed Expenditure Report from Alfa Nero Sale

16 March 2025 - 18:29

In a move to ensure transparency, Prime Minister and Finance Minister Gaston Browne has publicly presented a comprehensive account of the US$40 million (XCD$108 million) received by the government from the sale of the Alfa Nero superyacht in 2024.

The detailed breakdown was shared during the Browne and Browne Show on Pointe FM this  Saturday.

This disclosure comes in light of a lawsuit filed in Puerto Rico by Yulia Guryeva-Motlokhov, the daughter of the yacht’s original Russian oligarch owner, which questions both the sale price of the vessel and the allocation of the proceeds.

Prime Minister Browne outlined that a significant portion of the funds has been utilized to meet various government obligations. Notably, payments were made to the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank and funds directed toward settling judgment debts.

Furthermore, Browne expressed his intent to initiate legal action against the Associated Press, along with several local and regional news outlets, over claims made in recent articles concerning the Alfa Nero sale.

He asserts that these claims are inaccurate and misleading, emphasizing a commitment to protecting the integrity of the government and its financial dealings.

As the situation unfolds, the Prime Minister’s proactive approach aims to clarify the contributions of the sale to the country’s financial landscape while combatting misinformation.

  4. What, the Rumshop is the place where such vital information seem to disseminate from ? This fool does not know what transparency means but he’s up a creek without a paddle and now looks sympathy? He gets none from me. Had this not popped up, Antigua and Barbuda would never have known. While you’re at it, tell us about NAMCO, National Housing; since you’re so transparent, publish the audited reports of ALL government finances for the last eleven years.
