Island Academy claim the double again in School Volleyball finals

You can now listen to Antigua News articles!

It was a packed arena at the YMCA Volleyball Indoor facility on Friday as defending male and female champions, Island Academy International were in action once again to secure a third straight title for both divisions.

Island Academy females faced tough competition from Christ the King High School (CKHS) who had stunned the then undefeated Antigua Girls High School 1 in the semis earlier that week.

But IA would be too much for CKHS as they faltered in straight sets, 25-17 25-18.

Immediately after, the IA boys would face a tough contest from Antigua Grammar School (AGS).

Despite a hard-fought battle by AGS, the experience and dominance of IA would be too much to handle as they too fell in straight sets, 25-19 25-18.

The celebrations were in full swing for Island Academy.

A day earlier in the third-place matches, AGHS 1 defeated AGHS 2 in straight sets, 25-21 25-20 while ABICE defeated IA 2 2-1 in sets, 25-23 19-25 17-15.

The closing ceremony is expected to place some time this week.
