This charge falls under the Public Order Act and carries a penalty of up to five years in prison. They are scheduled to return to court on June 25, 2025 to defend the charges.

Bail was set at $30,000 for both John and Charles, all of whom had their sureties accepted by the court. However, Durand who was similarly charged, was denied bail and remanded in custody at the State prison.

His lawyers have said that they will appeal the matter in the High Court.

The protest, which took place on March 19, escalated into a confrontation with police, resulting in the use of tear gas and rock bullets, injuring several participants.

This is an attack on our democratic rights! People have the right to protest when they feel their voices aren’t being heard. The fact that even former MPs are being arrested shows how serious the situation is. We need to stand up for what’s right.

Those who incite people to break the law are just as guilty as the rioters. Let them face the court. If found guilty of breaing the law, let them pay the penalty.

So, Dominicans protest and get arrested cause they need permission. we protest and don’t need permission. its time we walk the streets of Antigua demanding justice for not only Chantel but for Achazia as well, even Yenifer, Vincia and every other unsolved murder mystery. In Caribbean politics once you go against the government peacefully or not you will be teargased and arrested. In other words any thing I do you take it or leave it but you can’t go against it otherwise..and you call that democracy..
